AC Transit makes a few adjustments
AC Transit has made some schedule changes to its bus lines that will start this week. The biggies are a time change on the O line to San Francisco (the buses will be running five minutes earlier) and a route change for the 356 that will eliminate service on Park Street between Encinal Avenue and Otis Drive.
They’re also making minor changes to the 50, the 63 and a host of other routes.
Oh, and while I’m on it, fares are going up on July 1. Get ready to shell out an extra quarter for adult, one-way rides; 15 cents for the kids; ten bucks for adult monthly passes; and 50 cents to cross the Bay. (Jeez, it’s getting so bad that they’re actually raffling off free monthly passes for riders.)
For the full 411 (or should I say, 511?), you can click here or call 511 and say “AC Transit.” New route maps are available online and pocket schedules should be available on the buses. They have an e-news utility too, and if you’re interested in signing up, click here.
While I’m talking bus service, blogger John Knox White offered a pretty good summary of the cash-strapped bus service’s proposed service changes on the Chron’s In Alameda blog.
He says they’re looking to reduce service to Bay Farm Island, the ferry terminal and the West End (west of Webster), eliminate direct service between the East End and the Fruitvale BART Station and also cut service to the North Shore.
Sounds like there are some pros, though, including weekend service from Alameda Point to the DTO and better service to and from BART from the rest of the Island.
More to come on that, I’m sure.
