Saturday farmers market opens tomorrow
Gotta give the folks over at the West Alameda Business Association props for turning lemons into lemonade. The lot they’ve been using for our twice-weekly farmers market posted a “for sale” sign not too long ago, which could have spelled the end for the popular attraction. But they managed to find a new location – and get it up and running weeks ahead of schedule.
The market is now slated to be open Tuesday and Saturday mornings, and the first Saturday market opens at 9 a.m. tomorrow. There will be a ribbon cutting and live music in addition to all the usual food, folks and fun.
Hours will be 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays year-round. The Thursday evening market will be discontinued.
The market is now at the corner of Webster and Haight streets. It’s run by the Pacific Coast Farmers’ Market Association.
