LESSON 9 MEET TONIGHT

I’m coming to you live from tonight’s school board meeting, at which the board is expected to vote on whether to approve a set of anti-gay bullying lessons.

The meeting doesn’t start for an hour, but already, there’s a line of news trucks downstairs, and council chambers here at City Hall is beginning to fill up with folks who are running their scripts for what have been referred to as “closing arguments” for and against the lessons (who, I’ll note, are even sitting on opposite sides of the room).

The decision comes on the same day the state Supreme Court upheld the gay marriage-banning Proposition 8 (the court also said the 18,000 same-sex marriages that were performed between the time they originally said they’d be legal and the proposition passed will remain valid).

I’ll update events for you if necessary, and you can bet I’ll have a story for you the instant the decision is made.

As always … stay tuned.
