To decode for you:

Fiscal Sustainability Committee’s Long Range Financial Plan Due Out Tuesday

(See? Way too long to put in a headline.)

Anyhoo – Alameda’s Fiscal Sustainability Committee, a baker’s dozen of financial experts assembled by the City Council last summer to look for long-range solutions to the city’s myriad financial problems, is offering up its long-awaited (by me, anyway) report to the City Council on Tuesday.

I haven’t seen the report yet (apparently the final draft is at the City Clerk’s office). But according to a two-page staff report signed by FSC chief and City Treasurer Kevin Kennedy:

The draft report contains several suggestions for the City Council, which, if implemented, will have financial impacts for the City. All of these suggestions need to be carefully reviewed within the context of the entire budgetary process.

The committee offered its report on the city’s massive, outstanding public benefits obligation this past fall. The council is set to start considering its budget for next year soon.

As always, more to come.
