Police make arrest in Safeway worker’s killing
Sounds like police have made an arrest in the killing of a man who worked at the Safeway at Alameda Towne Centre.
The Oakland Tribune is reporting that Andrew Wong, 20, of Alameda was arrested and charged with the murder of Quang A. Quach, 36, of Oakland. Wong is also charged with killing a bakery delivery man, David Wells, 52, who delivered to the Safeway on his route.
The Tribune is reporting that Wong made sporting bets with both victims and that he owed Quach $5,000. They are saying that Wong was arrested Thursday night after leaving the Shannon Circle home he shares with his parents and that police found dozens of guns in the home, but they are not yet sure if any of them was used to kill the two men.
Quach was killed April 3 inside his Oakland apartment and was found by his wife when she returned home from work, the paper reports.
Wells was found dead in a parking lot near Oakland International Airport on July 31, 2008, the paper reports.
The Chronicle has a really extensive piece on this, by the way, which is here.
