no-eight-7Rhythmix Cultural Works is hosting “Give ‘Til It Feels Good,” a fundraiser for litigation to invalidate the anti-gay marriage Proposition 8, this Saturday.

The event will include performances from a host of East Bay musicians, including vocalist Lisa Cohen, pianist Mary Watkins and pianist/vocalist Andre dos Santos Morgan, with an opening set by rockers Liquid Girlfriend and a special song from K.C. Frogge. Janet Rachel will step in as the event’s emcee.

It’ll also include a silent auction with items including artwork, books, handmade jewelry and a host of services. And there’s a raffle.

The auction begins at 6:30 p.m., and the performances start at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $10 and up (the listing on Brown Paper Tickets lists the ticket price as $10 to $1,000, though event organizers assure me they’ll take more). Proceeds from the event will go to the National Center for Lesbian Rights, which is leading the legal efforts to defeat Proposition 8.

Rhythmix is at 2513 Blanding Avenue, and their phone number is 865-5060. The event is co-sponsored by WOFF and GLOBE.

Oral arguments in the cases before the state Supreme Court, by the way, are scheduled for 9 a.m. today. Apparently they’ll be telecast live on channel 26 on Comcast, and online.
