That’s the answer to the question I posed yesterday (“New city manager tonight?”).
The council met in closed session for more than four hours Tuesday night (or I should say, part of the council – Lena Tam and Marie Gilmore left early) to talk about who they might hire as their interim city manager. The official answer so far: The council met to discuss the appointment of an interim city manager and directed a subcommittee of the council to “negotiate a potential employment agreement with a candidate.”
The less official answer: They’re hoping to announce a new interim city manager next week … possibly on April Fool’s Day. (And the subcommittee is made up of Mayor Beverly Johnson and Vice Mayor Doug deHaan, if you were wondering.)
The attendees, from what I could see, included the council members (minus Frank Matarrese, who was, the agenda said, attending by phone from Santiago, Chile), Acting City Manager David Brandt, City Attorney Teresa Highsmith and Interim Finance Manager Ann Marie Gallant.
Okay, so I’ve totally exceeded my limit of parentheses, and this post is not even 200 words yet. As you can see there’s no photo with this post, a reflection the emptiness I’m feeling right now.
