Your weekend: Pip Squeak-A Go-Go
This Sunday, the roving dance party for the knee-high set, Pip Squeak-A-Go-Go, comes to Alameda’s Rhythmix Cultural Works. And this go-go round it’s got a special purpose: To raise money to fight a rare diseases that affects kids.
The event, from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, features music from San Francisco’s Devil-Ettes, plus The Time Outs, Uni and her Ukelele and Frances England. DJ Rockin’ Raul will be on hand to spin tunes all afternoon, and they’ll have dance lessons, a raffle and a baby bazaar.
Tickets are $10, and the event is a benefit for Cure JM. They’re working to find a cure for juvenile dermatomyocitis, a debilitating disease whose symptoms include muscle weakness and pain, severe fatigue, rashes and a whole host of others. The disease affects 5,000 children here in the United States – including two girls here in Alameda. The benefit is being held in their names.
Rhythmix is at 2513 Blanding Avenue. Tickets are available through Brown Paper Tickets or at the door.
