The PTA goes to Sacramento
The folks from Alameda’s PTA Council and three others in the East Bay invite you to join them for their annual Advocacy Day in Sacramento, which is Wednesday, February 18.
The event includes a panel discussion featuring state Senators Mark DeSaulnier and Loni Hancock and Assembly members Joan Buchanan, Nancy Skinner and Sandré Swanson, plus talks on the state budget and how to advocate for schools.
“Our presence in Sacramento is even more important this year with the unprecedented threat to school funding,” the event flyer says.
The trip comes at a time when the district is estimating the loss of $7 million over the next two years due to budget cuts and other factors. (And while we’re on that topic, a judge has decided not to grant a motion that would shut down one of the suits over Measure H, which is one of the revenue sources it has listed to potentially close some of that gap.)
The $65 cost includes the bus ride to Sacramento, a box lunch and a photo op with legislators.
