Hornet museum could move
Alameda’s USS Hornet museum could be moving soon, city staff told the council early Wednesday morning as the council, sitting as the Alameda Reuse and Redevelopment Authority, discussed a plan to lower the Hornet’s rent and potentially halve its back-rent debt to the city.
The terms of a move could be spelled out in the next 60 to 90 days, said Nanette Banks Mocanu, finance and administration manager for the city’s Development Services Department. If it happens, the Hornet would move from Pier 3, which it currently share with the Maritime Administration, to Pier 1.
The Hornet’s new executive director, Randall Ramian, did not return a call seeking comment.
I wrote a story about it for this week’s Alameda Journal. For more details, click here.
