Council gets Miffed
In an effort to save money and water out at the Chuck Corica Golf Complex, the city shut down its nine-hole Mif Albright course last November 30. This Tuesday, they’ll talk about some different options for reusing the 12-acre site, which had opened as a short course in 1982.
Options on the list – all of which, incidentally, involve spending money – include a park, athletic fields, a BMX bike park, a dog park and open space. The price tag on these options run from “minimal” (open space) to upwards of $4 million (all-weather fields), plus maintenance costs. (Do you smell a few more items to add to the city’s stimulus list? Hellooo, Measure WW funds!)
The council will also have to talk about what they are going to do with the large number of memorial trees that have been planted there over the last quarter-century.
At one point, city officials were talking about using the land for a hotel.
