George Jaber, 1925-2008
George Jaber, the scion of one of Alameda’s most prominent families, died Friday. He was 83.
Jaber was a native of Ramallah who emigrated to the United States in 1947, according to this obituary in the Chronicle. It says that he attended Tulsa University in Oklahoma, where he got a degree in petroleum oil engineering. He then married and worked in Oklahoma and Kuwait before settling in Alameda, where he became a great local businessman.
