We’ve got absentee numbers
We just checked in with Guy Ashley over at the Alameda County Registrar of Voters, and he says the ROV got 120,000 vote-by-mail, or absentee, ballots on election day.
Ashley said he’s hopeful that most of those ballots will be counted by early next week. He said the first batch of updated results could be available tomorrow afternoon. We’re not sure how many of those votes are here in Alameda.
We’ll update you on the number of provisional ballots, which are filled out at the polls on Election Day, as soon as those are available. Those ballots will likely take longer to count because they require additional checking.
The outcome of the count could impact the fate of the Measure P property transfer tax increase, which is leading by 317 votes, and the school board race. Challenger Ron Mooney is leading incumbent Janet Gibson by 305 votes for the board’s third open seat.
