UPDATED Fred Phelps group to skip …

We checked around and while it appears that members of Fred Phelps’ Westboro Baptist are not coming to town, folks are still planning what should be a lovely candlelight vigil Friday evening both to support the Alameda High School students performing “The Laramie Project” and to remember Matthew Shepard, the 21-year-old gay college student who was murdered on the outskirts of Laramie a decade ago and whose death sparked the play.

If you’re looking for the details, you can find them on the Queers United blog. Looks like the organizers are asking folks to show up at the Little Theatre at 6 p.m. or so Friday. The performance, by the way, starts at 7:30. Tickets are $10, $7 for students.
