Updated complaint in anti-H case
In this morning’s election results post we neglected to mention one more thing that happened yesterday: Attorneys for George Borikas, who filed the first of two lawsuits to invalidate Measure H, the school parcel tax, have filed an updated complaint.
To sum, it’s New! With More Lawyers! And An Extra Plaintiff or Two! And Some Other Legal Mumbo Jumbo on the Defendant Line Which I Didn’t Quite Get!
Okay, I’m a little loopy today … bear with me, OK?
So the now three-lawyer team representing Borikas has added some plaintiffs and, conveniently for me, the addresses of the properties they all own. Most of the new ones appear to be offices.
New plaintiffs include the Edward Hirshberg Trust, which owns four properties (including the building that houses the Alameda Journal and the old Alameda Times-Star warehouse) and Nelco Inc., which looks like it is also owned by Hirshberg, which has an address out on Harbor Bay Parkway. There’s also a Santa Clara Investors II, they have a property on Santa Clara and I’m looking for more info on them.
Hirshberg’s combined H tax bill on the five properties listed in the suit is $10,296.98. Santa Clara II is listed as having a $945 tab.
Anyway, if you’re interested, the info is here. Type in case number VG08405316.
