ALAMEDA’S TELECOM GETS SALE OFFER
Both Lauren Do and John Knox White are reporting that Alameda Power & Telecom’s troubled telecom division could be sold; we checked in with the utility and learned that it is indeed true. AP&T staff have been researching options for the money-losing telecom business and are recommending that it be sold, we’ve learned. And they have gotten a bid from Comcast, though we weren’t able to get an amount.
Any sale would have to be considered by the Public Utilities Board and approved by the City Council (and it looks like they’ll be meeting Monday and Tuesday respectively, per the city’s meeting schedule).
AP&T is holding a public workshop on its options at 7 p.m. at the O’Club. We’ll be there, so stay tuned for details.
