Michael Pollan to speak at library benefit
Thanks to superblogger Lauren Do for hipping us to this: Berkeley foodie author Michael Pollan will speak at a fundraiser for the Alameda Free Library from 5 to 8 p.m. October 19 at Auctions by the Bay Theater, 2700 Saratoga Street. Pollan will be in conversation with Sedge Thomson of West Coast Live. Pollan is the author of “The Omnivore’s Dilemma” and “In Defense of Food.” Tickets are $75 and are available at the Alameda Natural Grocery and Brown Paper Tickets and, per Lauren, at Daisy’s and Books Inc. on Park Street, Lanvie (the cute new clothing store) on Webster and Dewey’s Friends Cafe in the main library. And she says the ticket includes a dinner reception hosted by C’era Una Volta and Slow Food Alameda.
