Your weekend: Cleanup, cleanup
Alameda’s 24th annual Coastal Cleanup is this Saturday, from 9 a.m. to noon. There are two starting locations: The Alameda Point Trail at Ferry Point and West Hornet Avenue, and the Bird Sanctuary, at Broadway and Shoreline Drive. All ages are welcome. Participants are asked to wear sturdy clothes and lace-up shoes; the folks running the event will provide the rest.
Billed as the largest volunteer event of the year, cleanup participants have removed over 8.5 million pounds of debris from California’s shoreline and coast. For information or to pre-register, call 747-7586 or click here.
