Going green

Keep an eye out for possible changes to the traffic flow on Webster Street. The city is considering a project that would lengthen green lights for buses and allow emergency vehicles to give themselves green lights as needed.

The proposal also calls for a new light at Webster and Pacific and an “Intelligent Transportation System” that would collect data for the traffic nerds and the public (I guess they’d put it up online and on those electronic message boards like the ones you see on the freeway if I’m reading this right?).

No time line for this one yet, though the city is collecting $1.1 million from different agencies to put the plan in place. It’s all slated to happen on Webster from Central to the Tube, on into Oakland, to Harrison and 7th streets. The council is slated to talk about this at its regular meeting tonight. More info here.
