Your weekend: Candidates and concerts and civic operas, oh my!
Council candidate Justin Harrison kicked off the race this past week with three, count ’em, three events, including a carnival at 1 to 3 p.m. this Saturday at Washington Park. He’s offering hot dogs, soda, and jump house fun for a $5 donation. (We’ll go if he sits for the dunk tank – if you’re gonna be on the council, you’d better get used to it.) Anyway, all the info is up here. Might be worth going, just to find out who’s vying to run your city.
Also, Rhythmix is hosting the crew that was voted Best Old School Band by the East Bay Express this year … Ariel! They’re local and they have been on the scene for 25 years. They’ll be playing tunes off their new album, “Sure Thing, You Bet!” (we’re hoping to hear “Crank Up the Victrola.”) Tickets for the show, which’ll be at 8 p.m. Saturday, are $12, here; check ’em out on MySpace here.
Last but not least, ACLO’s got “Forever Plaid” at 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday, and then again next weekend at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $30-$34. All the info’s here.
