Your weekend: Take a hike!
Is it that time already? (I mean, finally?) Saturday’s almost here, folks – the first post-school Saturday – and it’s shaping up to be a nice one. So let’s make with the summerish fun! First up on your out-of-doors agenda is the weekly Alameda Walks hike; this week’s is along the new Bay Trail. The hour-long hike starts at 9 a.m. at the Encinal Boat Ramp on Central Avenue, aka the long driveway behind the Encinal High School Jetsetters building (look for the red Alameda Walks hats), and hikers will make their way to the USS Hornet and back. The walk is free. Participants are asked to leave their furry critters at home, so please, no ferrets. Kids and their strollers are OK, though. Next week’s hike will be along Santa Clara Avenue through Stonehenge and the Gold Coast. There’s more info here. Next up is a Wet and Wild family swim day, from noon to 4 p.m. at Encinal Swim Center. The event includes a barbecue lunch, water fun and ceramic painting projects for the kids. Tickets are $12 for adults and kids 3 and up. The pool’s at 230 Central Avenue, at Third. Don’t forget to bring swim diapers for the little ones. More info and registration forms, which you’ll need to fill out ASAP, are here. Or call 747-7529.
