Your weekend: Art. Fine art.
Sandwiched between the antique co-op and a car parts shop on Park Street and up a narrow flight of stairs, Autobody Fine Art is an easy place to miss. Nevertheless, it’s attracting increasing notice as a hip little place that could put Alameda on the outer edges, at least, of the map. This Saturday it’s opening “Ship of Fools,” a mixed media group show that focuses on theater, fairy tales, magic and imagination. Artists in the show, which runs through August 9, include David Houston, Zhenne Wood, Hannah Beadman, Steven Chabre, Kate Phillips and Jan Watten. The opening reception is from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday and features Jen Kobayashi on the flying trapeze and instant theatrical portraiture by Houston. Admission is free. The gallery is at 1517 Park Street; its phone number is 865-2608. If you want the full 411 on the show, it’s here.
