Vote count UPDATE

Submitted by on 1, June 5, 2008 – 10:00 amNo Comment

Just checked in with Registrar of Voters superspokesman Guy Ashley for an update on the checking and counting of provisional and walk-in absentee ballots. Sounds like he will have firmer numbers later today. He said several elections workers spent yesterday opening and checking what he described as “several thousand” of these ballots for the whole county and began the process of verifying the signatures on them to make sure they are legitimate votes. “It’s all one big batch and they’re not separated out” by race or community, Ashley said. He said he’ll have a better grasp of the numbers after workers start scanning the ballots today. We’ll update you as the information comes in.
