Plan on it

Tonight, the City Council is slated to consider applicants for a vacant seat on the city’s Planning Board. Gina Mariani, who has since resettled on the city’s Rec and Park Commission, left her planning post in December to focus more time on her family and law practice. The candidates for the seat include Transportation Commission chair and blogger John Knox White, former Alameda Journal editor Jeff Mitchell, Gregg “son of Doug” deHaan, and 14 others. Lauren Do blogged this a few months ago so I’ll just send you there for the rest. The full, current list is here. On a related note, the council also needs to appoint a new Alameda member to the Water Emergency Transportation Authority’s Community Advisory Committee. The council will also discuss a green building ordinance for city projects and a whole bunch of ways to make more money to cover a rather large projected budget deficit. It’s all here. The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, with some pre-meeting meetings starting at 6.
