Bike to work!
This Thursday, May 15 is the 14th Annual Bike to Work Day across the Bay Area. This year’s event is sponsored by 511.org and Kaiser Permanente, who are touting cycling as Healthy! Economical! and Environmentally Friendly! Special “energizer stations” with all sorts of yummy treats will be laid across the Bay Area that morning, including here in town at City Hall, the ferry, the Bay Farm Island bike bridge and Coast Guard Island. Ferry rides are free for cyclists that morning, and participants can also win prizes. (And while we’re on the subject of prizes, congrats are in order for Dave Jones, who has been selected as Alameda County’s Bike Commuter of the Year.) More information on Bike to Work Day is available on BikeAlameda’s website, or here.
