Sacramento story time

Lt. Gov John Garamendi and state Senate honcho Don Perata are paying a visit to their grandbabies’ school, Franklin Elementary, on Monday morning. They’ll start their visit by chatting with parents about budget issues, at 8:30 a.m. Garamendi, for one, is on record as opposing budget cuts to schools (though he left it to the unions to denounce the Governor’s proposal to suspend Proposition 98, the minimum schools funding guarantee). The pair’s grandkids are in the same kindergarten class at the school. Let’s hope the story they read isn’t as scary as the budget monster they’ll have to face down this spring.
