Alameda news. Now.

Hello, Alameda

I live here.

In the grand scheme of things, that’s not so important to too many people who are not me. But when it comes to bringing you local news, it means everything.

I moved to Alameda seeking the promise of community, good schools and small town charm. So far, this place has far exceeded my expectations.

For a while now, I’ve been trying to think of a way that I can contribute to a community that I am grateful to call home, a place I have quickly grown to love. I think this is it.

I am a former newspaper reporter who grew tired of the direction the business is heading in and decided to join the trail being blazed here on the Web. As such, I hope to ultimately embody citizen journalism at its best.

To me, that means bringing you local news reported by someone with more than a decade of experience, and opinions that are written by someone who lives here and, as a member of this community, has a stake in local issues.

I hope this site can provide news, views, a community bulletin board of events and anything else you all want to know about. From the schools’ projected fiscal woes to base redevelopment, there is a lot going on here. And I know you care.

Feel free to submit any comments, suggestions or tips to islandblog@gmail.com. And thanks for your interest.
